Blawg Review #68
Great job by Jeremy Blachman rounding up the posts for Blawg Review #68 with a little help from AL.
Excerpt: More entertainment news: read about Hollywood's Idea Theft Litigation King. Or, Freedom to Differ on the Kazaa settlement.
Did I mention that Jeremy's book, Anonymous Lawyer: The Novel, is now available at Amazon for 37% off.
In the novel, Anonymous Lawyer sets out on a quest to eliminate his biggest rival, The Jerk, and become chairman of the firm -- while dealing with incompetent associates, his spendthrift wife, and the inner torment deep in his soul. Very deep. USA Today calls the book "wickedly amusing".
More reviews of Anonymous Lawyer: The Book; here's one by David Giacalone too.

Blawgs Rock!
That's what Dahlia Lithwick says anyway:
"Blawgs" -- for the uninitiated -- are legal blogs, and if you haven't incorporated them into your daily reading, you are missing out. The most compelling, cutting-edge, honest legal writing being produced in this country today is happening on the Internet, and the crop improves daily. From the fistful of judges (including Richard Posner) who maintain regular blogs, to the vast and growing number of law professors and law students who find the time to post daily, it's clear that the real bones and guts and sinew of the national conversation is happening online, and not in print.Excerpted from Blawgs on a roll, American Lawyer, 6/7/6

Some notes on Blawg Review #58
Thank you to everyone who linked to Blawg Review #58.
I especially enjoyed Denise Howell's post and appreciated this comment Blawg Review #58 - Shaken, not stirred by Matt Buchanan of Rethink(IP):
Kevin sliced and diced the usual format for the review, presenting it in a crisp, organized, and very nicely designed package. His shaking largely accomplishes what we had hoped for -- people are actually reading the review instead of just scanning it to find the link to their site.
However, credit is due to the legal blogosphere as a whole and especially to those who took the time to submit their own or other's posts (special thanks to the Anonymous Editor of Blawg Review for their assistance in digging posts and proofing the presentation as well as to Colin Samuels of Infamy or Praise for sourcing posts). The "shaking" grew organically out of the posts I saw over the course of the week that every legal blogger posted to their blawg. So thanks to every legal blawgr for helping with Blawg Review #58.
Now, we can continue with our regularly scheduled programming.

Blawg Review #58
I admit it. I had doubts about even attempting to host another round of Blawg Review, especially after all the excellent and creative jobs done by other lawyers with blogs. However, after culling through some 1500+ blog posts this week I had the thought, what if Blawg Review were organized more like small town newspaper meets ESPN.... so click the link to check it out.

Excerpt: Breathe Easier Bloggers
Along with the attendant risks of getting sued, do you ever worry if your blogging could get you fired? Blogdaddy Eugene Volokh covers at some length the First Amendment status of blogging--specifically, the question of whether a private employee can be fired for the content of a blog. In California, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Louisiana, New York, and quite a few other jurisdictions, at least, it's harder than you might think.

High Praise for Blawg Review
Sean Sirrine's Blawg Review #46 has evoked high praise from David Giacalone for the Blawg Review project:
I may have to stop reading Blawg Review every week. No, it's not because of its cutesy title. It's far more practical: The darn "carnival" of law-related weblogs keeps adding to my to-do list of things to read -- and then, naturally, of things to write -- at a pace that can never be accomplished.
To be honest, I'm not sure that anything better has ever been said about it.
Sean and David also inspired the Editor of Blawg Review to create a collaborative law blogroll -- myHq blawgs.
I definitely believe that this is a great project - to collect all the legal blogs on one page, but still feel strongly that permanent links, or an email or a comment (at least for bloggers just starting out) are great so that others know who's reading them.
While I am on the topic of Blawg Review, I hope to end kevin.lexblog's inquisition into the ownership of the site by stating for the record one final time that I am not the Editor of Blawg Review and the only reason I am even involved with the project is because when the Editor approached Evan Schaeffer about the project Evan told "Ed." that I was busting my hump trying to get the Belly Up to the Bar (blawg carnival) started. Without Ed. the blawg review in its current form might never have materialize -- so all commendations should go to Ed. Me - I just get credit for all my failed legal and blog projects and ventures. Someone has to, I guess.

Blawg Review #46
I really like what Sean Serrine had to say in his introduction to Blawg Review #46 at de novo that I'm going to quote almost the whole thing (but that shouldn't stop you from going over there to see all the great posts compiled this week):
Here is the problem as I see it, (and I'm sure I'm just as much at fault as anyone else), nobody is giving out permanent links anymore. As much as I love Bashman and Volokh, I haven't seen the links on their sidebars change for over a year! It seems that in an effort to become more professional, blawgs have become static, just like the websites we found before blogs came around. They have great writing, but they are all starting to talk about the same thing. Rolling with the news cycle instead of creating it.I agree with Sean and I've recently implemented a new category page for my blogroll that I need to finish updating. So here is your chance to show that lawyers are all about learning new things no matter who is telling them. If you read something you like, put a link to that blawg on your sidebar as a silent thank you for a job well done. I know plenty of you out there know how to tip, (you better if you're going to drink those $7 coffees), and this is how tipping works in the blogosphere. Best of all it's free! So show some link love....
And thanks for the nice comment on Blawgr.com.

The one and only Blawg Review
If something were to ever happen to blawgreview.com, you can rest assured that you could still find a link to every Blawg Review issue.
I have updated my Blawg Review category page to provide a link to all the past issues. All future issues will have their own posts.
Also, if you're ever confused as to whether a post on another web site is a legitimate Blawg Review blawg post, you can look there as well: http://techlawadvisor.com/blawg_review/. If its not on that page then it is not a Blawg Review.
